Once I was offered this duty to write about how you go about selecting the proper rug cleaning machine or truck-mount for your businesses, I thought to myself "this is going to be uninteresting." As I started thinking about it more and more I thought it should really be told in a history manner. It would keep it interesting and more folks could relate with it. Following graduation from college with a BA in Advertising,a recession had just become widespread. I managed to get a employment and began saving for that company I thought I would run 1 day. 7 months into the job, residing with my wife and a room mate in a 1 bedroom condominium, I managed to save $ to launch a company.
In those days, there was no Net. I pretty much lived in the library studying what kind of business I could begin with the tiny amount of dollars that I had saved up. It was really hard back then to get good advice. Nowadays, I would just type in "carpet cleaning products" on the Internet and tons of results would certainly appear. I believed that I could not buy a piece of equipment that cost more than I had saved up, so I started looking in the area for recommendations.
Along with a little analysis and a prod from my spouse, "if you are planning to do this, then you should do it today," I picked a transportable machine for around $3,199 and was ready to start. Fortunately, the equipment came with supplies and I had some cash still remaining for marketing and advertising.
I want to keep the focus of this article towards carpet cleaning machines, so I won't go into too many tangents that are otherwise important but not the focus of this article.. I used the equipment for a few years and discovered a lot more about machines. I realized why truck mounts were better. Largely better because of the speed they offered the person.
About 2-3 years into my personal carpet cleaning occupation, I started to do two to three projects a day. Working from 9 am to 9 pm was wearing me out. 1 evening I was cleaning the carpets of a sweets manufacturing plant. It wasn't within the manufacturing plant, but the adjacent offices where the personnel desks and offices were located. From the sweets combined with soil this particular job wasn't a dream job as you can picture. It took all weekend to clean that should have taken me a few hrs. The results were also not to my liking.As soon as I could I called a salesman from a nearby carpet cleaning machine store that had been attempting to sell turck mounts to me for a while.
I was dealing with a reputable corporation that would take good care of me.That week, the salesperson came out to my house and did a demonstration.I whipped out jobs like there was no tomorrow. For some reason, people had "brainwashed" me to believe that truck-mounts that use hot water extraction, or "steam cleaning" in layman's terms, over-wet the carpet and that the carpet could get damaged. None of this was true. I could now see myself working less while making the same amount of money. So, I was ready to commit and agreed to lease the machine for 60 months for $370.00 a month.
My sales literally exploded after a few months of ownership. I was performing more work, I was equipped to hire help and pay the help well. Within a few months I arranged to rent an additional unit and in another few years I had 5 truck-mounted carpet cleaning machines and 14 workers.
Apart from the equipment there had been other things heading correct for me also. We were expecting a baby and this gave me a lot more conviction to do well and my BA in Advertising and marketing was also a outstanding help.
Since I decided to write this article in an unconventional way, by telling a story rather then listing pros and cons, I'll let you draw your own conclusions from my story...
